Prevention

Prevention of a condition like MPS is not easy because there can be many underlying causes. From the purely physical point of view, the focus is on traumas involving the musculoskeletal structures that proceed the appearance of a trigger point. Intense physical activity should also be avoided in order to prevent spinal system trauma.

A proper diet, combined with appropriate and ongoing physical activity, can prevent MPS. However, little can be done for abrupt hormonal changes, such as those found during pregnancy or menopause. Reduced physical activity common to sedentary jobs is often accompanied by equally long periods in air conditioned offices. The combination of immobility and localized chilling of the body are two risk factors that must be avoided.

When a job involves awkward movements and traumas, it helps to alternate with another activity that involves different motions. If fascial syndrome has already appeared, care must be taken to immediately reduce the possibility of it becoming a chronic condition.
